Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

If your kids like playing with their food (and really, who doesn’t?), then try a doughnut-decorating class at Glazed and Infused. No occasion necessary, but the class can also double as a fun alternative to the traditional birthday party.

“Kids love to put things together themselves, so we provide them with the tools to make their own creation,” says Lauren Trage, sales and catering manager at the Glazed and Infused in Lincoln Park.

The staff sets up a “doughnut bar,” she explains, with “all the glaze in the middle, and all the different kinds of toppings. Everyone gets their own doughnut to do whatever they’d like with it.”

Replacing the traditional birthday cake with a doughnut, Trage says, makes a unique way to celebrate. “They’re kind of more individualized,” she said. “We can personalize the extra-large doughnut as well, just like you do with a cake, if people want to order one rather than decorate it themselves.”

Glazed and Infused in Lincoln Park, 939 W. Armitage Ave., will be hosting a doughnut-decorating class Sunday, September 21. Tickets are $11 per child, which includes up to 2 adults. Reservations can be made by calling 312-226-5556 or via email at [email protected].
