The Bears will enter the regular season with a new long snapper after they waived Brandon Hartson on Sunday.

Hartson, 24, beat out CFL veteran Chad Rempel in the Bears’ preseason competition but didn’t inspire long-term confidence. Rempel was waived Aug. 18.
The Bears auditioned four snappers earlier this week, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. And ESPN reported three more worked out for the team on Sunday, including former Bear Jeremy Cain.
Long snapper Patrick Mannelly, the longest-tenured player in club history, retired in June.
The Bears host the Bills on Sept. 7 at Soldier Field.
