Riverwoods-based Discover Financial Services last month opened a satellite office in downtown Chicago that will accommodate up to 300 workers of the financial services firm.
Discover, whose products include credit cards and student loans, leased 26,000 feet at 350 N. Orleans to use as an alternate, temporary place for employees who need to work downtown occasionally, or who work at home and need meeting space and Internet access to company files and systems.
Discover spokesman Jon Drummond said 16 percent of Discover’s local workforce, which numbers more than 3,000 people, live in the city of Chicago. The lease was signed earlier this year but the space opened last month, he said.

“It has a modern look and feel, unlike a typical, work-cube corporate office setting,” Drummond said.
