Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Name: iON Air Pro 3 Wi-Fi

What it is: A lightweight waterproof camcorder with a fixed-focus antifog lens and built-in Wi-Fi. It shoots 1080p or 720p high-definition video. Stills can be 5MP or 12MP captured in single, burst or time-lapse modes. Waterproof down to 49 feet, the camera is just 4.2 inches long and weighs just 5 ounces. Its Wi-Fi PODZ allows remote operation via a free iOS or Android app. A sensor stabilizes the view, even if you tilt the camera, so the image doesn’t appear sideways or upside down, and a built-in microphone minimizes distracting noises. Air Pro 3 accepts high-grade micro-SD cards up to 32GB. Included are a carrying pouch, a power adapter and USB cable, a tripod and a helmet mount.

The good: The quality of the stills and video are superior to images I have captured with other action cameras. When the camera is being held instead of worn, its cylindrical design makes it comfortable in the hand. It vibrates to confirm it is starting or stopping, a nice feature so you don’t need to look at it while shooting. Neither the chill of the Swiss Alps

nor Dubai’s desert temperatures affected the camera or lens; the battery lasts

almost three hours with the Auto Off feature.

The bad: You must use the recommended Class 6 or 10 Micro-SD card. When I used a lower-end card, I wound up with only slow-motion video of dog-sledding in Alaska.
