The Fiat Chrysler Automobiles plant in Belvidere reopened Wednesday morning after shuttering Tuesday due to an accident at one of its supplier locations, according to a company spokeswoman.
Roughly 1100 workers were affected when production at the plant, about 70 miles north of Chicago, was temporarily suspended Tuesday afternoon. “We only ran a partial shift because we could not get parts of the accident at a supplier,” said spokeswoman Jodi Tinson.
The plant reopened this morning, when the supplier plant resumed production. ” As long as they continue to supply us parts, we will continue to run,” said Tinson.
WREX in Belvidere first reported the story.
