Metro Chicago ranked fourth in the country in number of private tech company acquisitions last year, according to a report by research firm PrivCo.

Silicon Valley led the ranking of metro areas, with 281 acquisitions, followed by New York with 74. San Diego and Chicago both had 27, but San Diego’s largest deal was twice the size of the biggest transaction in the Chicago area.
