The second episode of the fourth season of “
” brought in a solid 6.3 million viewers to its 9 p.m. viewing. While that number is up 48% in comparison to last season’s second episode, it is a little shy of the 6.6 million who showed up for last week’s season premiere.
The episode earned another 1.7 million viewers across two replays, bringing the night’s tally to 8 million viewers (within 2% of last week).
Given that this episode included
involving the loss of a pivotal character — and that Sunday saw the
(albeit in a different time slot) as well as the annual MTV Movie Awards – it will be interesting to see how DVR playbacks contribute to the final numbers.
As far as other HBO shows, “Silicon Valley’s” 10 p.m. showing averaged 1.7 million viewers with a gross audience of 2.2 million and “Veep” delivered 860,000 viewers at 10:30 p.m. and had a gross audience of 1.4 million viewers for the night.
