Four pit bulls attacked a 58-year-old man in Englewood early Saturday morning, injuring his leg before an off-duty police officer shot one of the dogs, according to police.
The attack occurred on the 6000 block of South Wood Street at about 6:50 a.m., Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney said.
The man was taken to John H Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious condition, Sweeney said.
The off-duty officer killed one of the dogs, and animal-control officers located and secured the other three, he said.
