,” a comedy starring Jenny Slate, was picked up on Monday afternoon for North American rights by A24,

Variety

has confirmed.

The pic was directed by first-time helmer Gillian Robespierre and premiered on Friday as part of

Sundance

‘s Next competition. Slate plays an angsty, recently dumped twentysomething who lives in Brooklyn, a familiar premise at this year’s fest (see Desiree Akhavan’s “Appropriate Behavior.”) Also starring are Gaby Hoffman, Polly Draper, Richard Kind and David Cross.

The project started as a 2009 short of the same name, and the filmmaker raised $37,000 on Kickstarter to help with production costs.

A24 also acquired “Laggies,” a dramedy starring Keira Knightley and directed by Lynn Shelton, over the weekend, making it one of the more aggressive buyers at this year’s Sundance.
