A 30-year-old Evanston man on parole died after a shooting in the north suburb on Saturday evening, authorities said.
The shooting happened about 6:20 p.m. in the 2000 block of Darrow Avenue, Evanston Police Department Cmdr. Jay Parrott said in a news release.
Evanston police said the victim, Floyd Gibert and was on parole.
Just after the shooting, a vehicle in which someone was apparently driving the 30-year-old to a local hospital was involved in a traffic crash at the intersection of Green Bay Road and McCormick Boulevard, Parrott said.

Gilbert, who lived in the north suburb, was pronounced dead at Green Bay and McCormick at 7:30 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
