A northwest suburban man was ordered held in lieu of $300,000 bail Sunday after he allegedly tried to rendezvous with a 15-year-old girl he met online, only to discover that the girl was actually an undercover cop.

Heath T. Locum, 44, of the 700 block of South Street in West Dundee, thought he was going to meet the girl on Friday in Berwyn, Assistant State’s Attorney Joel Bruckman said Sunday in Cook County Bond Court.

Locum arrived and was arrested and charged with felony traveling to meet a minor and indecent solicitation of a child, according to court records.

Locum first electronically contacted the faux teen on Oct. 5, according to Bruckman.

During their communications, Locum exchanged phone numbers with the pretend teen, Bruckman said, and also emailed and texted her for sex.

They agreed to meet up on Friday and Locum said he would bring the girl an old cell phone of his so she could take “sexy photos of herself,” Bruckman said.

Locum has no criminal background, his public defender said Sunday in court.
