Glencoe firefighters extinguish fire in 500 block of Dundee Road

Glencoe firefighters Monday afternoon extinguished a small fire in the 500 block of Dundee Road.

Homeowners called 911 about 2:30 p.m. after smelling smoke, authorities said.

Firefighters found a planter outside the house on fire. Deputy Chief Al Kebby said the fire spread to the siding of the house. Kebby said it is possible the fire started in mulch in the planter, but authorities were still checking to determine the origin.

Trucks from Northbrook, Winnetka and Highland Park also responded. The residents, who were home at the time, were not injured and the house had no damage.
