One day after launching the promotion, Google said it has stopped offering three free months of Netflix service to users who purchase the Chromecast streaming-video adapter for TVs, after unexpectedly high demand for the $35 devices.

Google announced Chromecast on Wednesday at an ayem press conference in San Francisco. By Thursday morning, Amazon.com and BestBuy.com were out of stock

and the Google Play store listed a three- to four-week wait for shipping.

“Due to overwhelming demand for Chromecast devices since launch, the 3-month Netflix promotion (which was available in limited quantities) is no longer available,” Google said in a statement.
