Baltimore Sun photo by Kenneth K. LamAt this point, he is the Opening Day starting first baseman (with Nolan Reimold, Wilson Betemit and Danny Valencia potentially filling Davis' primary DH role). Davis was supposed to be the main guy last year, but frankly, he did not play as well at first as he or the club would have liked. Eventually, Reynolds seized the job and Davis was moved all around the diamond (and to DH). Before Davis came to Baltimore, he had a reputation of being an above-average first baseman. Haven't seen that yet, but Davis -- and manager Buck Showalter -- believe he still has the potential defensively.

The lineup has been announced for tonight’s Home Run Derby at Citi Field.
Orioles first baseman Chris Davis is fifth, behind Pedro Alvarez and in front of Bryce Harper. Obviously, it is AL and NL switching spots with defending champion Prince Fielder going first and the captains going last.
Here is the order: Prince Fielder, Michael Cuddyer, Yoenis Cespedes, Pedro Alvarez, Chris Davis, Bryce Harper, Robinson Cano, David Wright.
We’ll know more about tomorrow’s batting order for the game within an hour or so.
One other note: Davis is now the favorite to win the Derby, according to bovada.lv, an online betting site.
Davis is now 11-4 odds to win with Fielder at 15-4. Last week, Fielder was 7-2 and Davis was 15-4, but apparently his recent hot streak has pushed him up the board.
