Palos Hills police are searching for a man who robbed a bank Friday afternoon before he fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect entered the Bank of America at 10260 South Roberts Road shortly after 1 p.m. and inferred that he had a weapon although he did not display one during the robbery.

He was described as a male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, in his 30s and weighing about 190 to 200 pounds, a Palos Hills police source said. He may have fled in a Checker taxicab.

As a precaution, police ordered local residents to lock their doors and stay inside while they cleared the area of spectators.
