Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

TV/radio:

7 p.m. Saturday; WLS-Ch. 7, WLS-AM 890.

The line:

Notre Dame by 19.

Records:

Notre Dame 9-0, Boston College 2-7.

Last meeting:

Notre Dame won 16-14 on Nov. 19, 2011, in South Bend, Ind.

ON THE OFFENSIVE:

Boston College ranks 116th against the run nationally, allowing 230-plus yards per game. Another night of double 100-yard rushers in Irish RBs Theo Riddick and Cierre Wood could await.

GETTING DEFENSIVE:

Irish run defense should render Eagles one-dimensional, meaning front four can tee off on QB Chase Rettig and leave CBs Bennett Jackson and KeiVarae Russell to make big plays.

THE NUMBER:

200. Only two previous Irish offenses averaged 200 yards passing and rushing, as the current one does (200.3 rushing, 204.1 passing): 1970 and 1977.

THE TALK:

Hand-wringing exists over season-killing losses to the Eagles in 1993 and 2002, but those were nine-win Boston College teams. This one may be led by a dead coach walking. It’s a style-points game for the No. 4 Irish — a must-win, and a must-win-big.

BRIAN HAMILTON’S PICK:

Short a four- or five-turnover night or a fleet of injuries, even just a close game is borderline inexcusable for the Irish.
