Teachers in North Shore District 112 in Highland Park have set a strike date for Oct. 16 after negotiators failed to reach a contract agreement during a bargaining session Thursday, according to the teachers union.
Members of the North Shore Education Association’s bargaining team were unhappy with the latest offer by the Board of Education, according to a union release.
Both sides have declined to discuss specifics about the negotiation, but a spokeswoman for the teachers has said raises are the primary issue.

The next bargaining session is scheduled for Oct. 10.
Teachers in the district have been working without a contract since Aug. 21.
