Notre Dame already was set to have the son of a basketball Hall of Famer line up at receiver one day. Now there might be the son of a baseball All-Star and Gold Glove winner on the other side.
Torii Hunter, Jr., the son of the 16-year veteran Angels outfielder, made an oral commitment to play for the Irish starting in 2013, both father and son confirmed via their Twitter accounts Sunday.
“Congrats to my son @THunterJr for his commitment to Notre Dame to play football and baseball. #proudpapa,” the elder Hunter wrote Sunday.
Hunter, a 6-foot, 172-pound receiver from Prosper, Texas, is the No. 246 player nationally according to Rivals.com. He joins Corey Robinson, the son of Hall of Fame center David Robinson, in the Irish’s Class of 2013 recruiting haul.
Notre Dame now has 21 commitments for 2013.
