Tenneco Inc. announced plans Thursday to shutter its Vittaryd, Sweden plant that makes emission control products, in response to weak European market conditions.

The Lake Forest-based maker of emission control and other automotive products said it would consolidate its aftermarket emission control business within Europe by moving the work to facilities in France, Germany, Spain and Poland later this year.

The closure, to be completed in the third quarter of 2013, will result in a restructuring charge of $10 million to $14 million during the next four quarters, including a non-cash charge of $4 million in this year’s third quarter. Currently, the plant employs 122 people.
