Chicago ranks No. 11 as the best city for Generation Y workers–19 to 29-year-olds or those born between 1982-1993.

This is according to a report by PayScale Inc. and Boston-based Millennial Branding, who surveyed Gen Y workers to determine the city’s ranking based on median pay, number of young workers, job satisfaction, average commute time and reported stress levels.

The data was collected and self-reported by 500,000 visitors to PayScale.com, a salary information website, between July 2011 and July 2012.

Chicago posted a 2.2 percent increase in wage growth between 2009 and 2012, while the median pay for Gen Y workers is $42,600. The average commute time is 29.9 minutes, and Gen Y makes up 24 percent of the city’s overall workforce.

Seattle tops the list with a 4.4 percent wage increase, a median salary of $44,000 and a 24-minute average commute. Houston and Minneapolis came in second and third, respectively.
