Talk about your tropical depressions.

It’s so hot and humid here in South Florida in August, who would want to leave the comfort of air conditioning…under any condition? Extending the teeniest tiniest effort – say, crossing your legs or shooing a bug – ends up with you drenched in sweat and taking yet another shower. And this time of year the threat of a hurricane practically lays siege to the region with most event planners hunkering down until October.

So it’s a little tricky feeling anywhere near fabulous…in SoFlo…in August. But it can be done, and here’s how:

EVENT: “Broward Bares It III”

WHAT: The third time just may be the charm for this annual benefit for Broward House, an HIV/AIDS community service organization. This year the flesh-baring uber-sexy fundraiser promises to scratch the Broadway style numbers in favor of more stripping and showing off their magic mikes.

WHERE: Paradise Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, 5715 Seminole Way in Hollywood.

WHEN: 8 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.) on Friday, August 17

HOW MUCH: Tickets start at $35 for general admission; $75 for V.I.P. and $1,200 for Uber V.I.P. Party Sections.

EVENT: “Phashionshow”

WHAT: “This is the fifth year,” said organizer Maurice Tucker. “This is a platform so young designers can show their fashion. This is for up-and-coming designers who maybe do not have enough cash to show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.”

WHERE: The Renaissance Fort Lauderdale-Plantation hotel, 1230 S. Pine Island Road in Plantation.

EVENT: The South Florida Firefighters 2013 Calendar Unveiling

WHAT: Hometown heroic hunka-hunka-burning-loves will greet fans, pose for photos and sign calendars at the unveiling of the 20th anniversary edition.

WHERE: Center Fountain at Seminole Paradise at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, 5715 Seminole Way in Hollywood.

WHEN: Presale starts at 6 p.m.; calendar unveiling at 8:30 p.m., Aug. 30.

HOW MUCH: $20 per calendar

EXTRA INFO: The 20th anniversary means everything is bigger. The format is larger and there are more hotties to ogle (37 in all). There’s even a retrospective of dazzling dudes from previous editions.

EVENT: “Re-Framing the Feminine”

WHAT: Art exhibit featuring the work of 44 women in film photography and digital media, including stars such as Francesca Woodman, Cindy Sherman and Diane Arbus.
