The Cubs continue to say that starter Matt Garza is quickly regaining health and will start late next week, although no one still is sure whether he will start for the Cubs or someone else.
Garza, recovering from what is called triceps cramping, played catch before Saturday’s game and is expected to throw a bullpen session Monday before spending trade deadline day with his wife, who is expected to give birth to their fourth child.
“Everything is progressing,” manager Dale Sveum said. “Everyting is getting better each day.”
An MRI exam showed no damage to Garza’s right arm, according to Sveum.
