player ready...If you’ve been looking for a good deed to do, here’s your chance: the KIND Movement wants Chicagoans to give small so that it can give big.
As part of its “Do the KIND Thing” project, a different city is chosen each month, and its residents are challenged to perform one act of kindness. If enough people make a good-faith promise to do so, the program performs a large-scale charitable act for the community. It’s like a Groupon for do-gooders.
The challenge is coming to Chicago for the first time next month. If at least 7,000 people pledge to donate an article of new or used clothing to a local shelter or someone in need, the organization will partner with the Kyle Korver Foundation (founded by the former Bulls guard to help inner-city kids) and donate hundreds of new school uniforms to Chicago children. About 85 percent of CPS elementary schools require uniforms.
The deadline to pledge, at kindsnacks.com/dtkt, is Aug. 7. The KIND Movement is an initiative of KIND snacks.
