At Sears, even vacations can be put on layaway.
The Hoffman Estates-based retailer said it will launch SearsVacations.com, a travel Web site offering vacation and leisure travel packages, including flights, hotels, cruises and car rentals, the company announced Tuesday.
The new service, set to kick-off on Wednesday, will allow consumers to put their vacations on hold and pay the total cost gradually or purchase pre-paid vacation packages that can be financed over time. Sears’ customers can also purchase vacations using their Sears credit cards.
The company is offering roughly 100 vacation packages starting at $399 until July 31, the company said in a statement.
Sears has licensed the operation of the Web site to Scottsdale, Ariz-based International Cruise and Excursions Inc., a global travel and leisure company who will provide travel fulfillment and customer support.
This is Sears second technology offering in less than a year. In April, the retailer said it was getting into the “big data” business, offering its proprietary data management and analytics services to other companies.
