Even with a 3-1 series advantage, 76ers coach Doug Collins doesn’t see his team relaxing for Tuesday night’s Game 5 matchup with the Bulls.
“We had a good shootaround today,” Collins said. “I think our guys know the task at hand. We want to keep doing what we’re doing. We’d like to shoot the ball a little bit better. But I think our guys understand where we are right now, the importance of these games.”
Collins emphasized how associate head coach Michael Curry reminded his team of how Curry’s top-seeded Pistons trailed the eighth-seeded Orlando Magic in 2003 only to come back and win the series.
In other words, the top-seeded Bulls could rally against the eighth-seeded 76ers.
“I know I sound like a broken record, but it’s got to be as important to us tonight as it is to the Bulls,” Collins said.
The 76ers have only three players who have advanced past the first round of the playoffs: Elton Brand, Tony Battie and Sam Young.
