McDonald’s outgoing Chief Executive Jim Skinner will receive about $10 million in cash at year-end, according to a company filing.

Skinner’s eligibility is based on his participation in an executive retention program. He will step down June 30, making way for Don Thompson, who most recently served as chief operating officer.

During 2011, Skinner received nearly $8.8 million in salary, stock, option awards and other incentives for overseeing the world’s largest restaurant chain. His 2011 pay slipped 10 percent from the previous year, when his total compensation was $9.7 million.
