Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Nothing says “Midwest” quite like barns. Or Iowa. Put them together, and you are on the front lines of the Midwest.

With that in mind, the Iowa Barn Foundation has announced that its latest self-guided tour of the state’s historic barns will be June 23 and 24 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All participating barns were built between 1880 and 1940.

Also, I don’t know what any of this means, but this press release makes the event sound thorough: “Among the barns on tour will be an octagon barn, Pennsylvania-style barn, bank barn, prairie style barn, monitor style barn, and a barn with three gable ends. Barns with various roofs will be included: Dutch Gambrel, New England Gambrel, gable on hip, pent, and modified hip will be seen.”

Yes, you read right. There will be a

monitor-style barn
