Devin Butler made official Wednesday what most had suspected since he left Notre Dame’s campus after a visit: He’s the next member of the Irish’s 2013 recruiting haul.
The three-star cornerback from Washington, D.C., announced his commitment via Twitter on Wednesday morning and becomes Notre Dame’s 10th pledge in the next recruiting cycle.
Rivals.com rates the 6-foot-1-inch, 185-pound Butler as the nation’s No. 24 cornerback prospect, but what Butler may lack currently in marquee billing he makes up for in need-filling.
After whiffing on cornerbacks in the last cycle, thanks in part to early enrollee Tee Shepard leaving school after just weeks on campus, Notre Dame now has two players slated for cornerback to rebuild depth at the position: New Jersey prospect Rashad Kinlaw and now Butler.
