Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Judging by the many comments on our website and callers I’ve heard on local sports talk radio, many fans seem to be angry at the book’s author Jeff Pearlman for dredging up this dirt.

They say Payton was a hero and they don’t want to know about his dark side. They say they just don’t care and it does not change the way they feel about Payton.

Others say they aren’t surprised by the revelations — it’s becoming standard issue for sports stars. And, finally, some say they are surprised that it has taken this long for these sordid details to come out, so many years after Payton played and after he died.
