Last-minute travelers take note: Priceline has some sweet deals this week on four-star hotels for less than $100 a night. Each hotel has its own window of availability, but if the dates work for you, it’s a great way to save big time on some luxury digs.

The deal: For those who haven’t used Priceline, it’s a blind bidding process: You book at a rate you like and then learn the name of the hotel. Last-Minute Pricebreaker Deals promises rooms for less than $100 a night in Chicago, Pittsburgh, New Orleans, Denver, Washington, D.C., and other cities.

When: To get any of the deals, reserve via Priceline by Sunday.

Tested: I was happily surprised with the deal I received for a Chicago stay for four nights starting Sept. 28. I paid $99 a night plus tax (and I can add nights at that rate) for a stay at what turned out to be the Palmer House/Hilton Hotel. The hotel’s best available rate for the same dates start at $239 a night plus tax. Bottom line: There’s no guarantee on what four-star hotel you’ll get once you buy, but you’re bound to save a bundle.
