We’ll be halfway through the season at halftime of this weekend’s games, so it’s time for the midseason edition of the “Edgy’s.”
Best Chicagoland team so far?
Nominees
Maine South: Has lived up to its preseason billing. However, nonconference victories against Warren (0-4) and Wheaton South (1-3) suddenly don’t seem so big.
Glenbard West: We knew the defense led by Tommy Schutt was solid, but the offense is on a serious roll.
Mount Carmel: Has a Butkus (junior QB Don Butkus) leading the way and a defense that would make No. 51 proud.
Loyola: No one plays defense as well as the Ramblers. Senior QB Malcolm Weaver has been outstanding.
Lincoln-Way East: Offense is as explosive as any in Illinois.
Joliet Catholic: Try to slow down the backfield.
