Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

After going from brown to blond to bald and back to blond, Brit’s back to being a brunette. Yep, Britney Spears — the gal who’s topping a bunch of “celebrity of the decade” lists — is saying adios to the aughts by topping her head with deep, chocolate brown-colored hair.

Britney debuted her new ‘do this week in West Hollywood, according to Us Weekly, but the jury’s still out as to what prompted the switch. After all, Spears has had pretty good luck as a blonde in 2009, winning an MTV Video Music Award for “Womanizer” and taking her mega-selling “Circus” act on the road. Let’s take this opportunity to look back at some of Brit’s most talked-about hairstyles, shall we?

1993

All-natural Mouseketeer

Remember, Britney was a definite brunette on “The Mickey Mouse Club” as a little kid.

1998

‘Baby One More Time’

Brit’s dirty-blond pigtails and Catholic school uniform ushered in a new era in pop — and a timeless Halloween costume.

2000

‘Oops! … I Did It Again’

A long, straight ponytail (and skintight red jumpsuit) helped make Spears’ second album a hit.

2004

‘Toxic’ diva

Arguably Britney at her peak, the “Toxic” video is remembered more for her naked-diamond outfit than her platinum-blond hair.

2005-06

The Federline years

Brit’s career — and regular grooming — plummeted as she became involved with Kevin Federline and had two kids. Think messy ponytails and Von Dutch caps.

Feb. 2007

Bald breakdown

After her marriage tanked, Spears shaved her head in front of paparazzi.

July 2007

Shocking pink

Britney opted for a hot pink bob to cover her scalp while she waited for her locks to grow out.

2008

‘Circus’

The pop tart finally nailed a successful comeback with “Circus,” in which she played a buxom blond ringleader.

2010

Brownout

Back in the groove of music and parenting, Britney is back to her roots.
