Modernism your thing? Well then, mark a big red “M” on your calendar for Nov. 6-8 and waltz your way to Winnetka, on Chicago’s oh-so North Shore. That’s where the 20th Annual Modernism Show will wow you with some 50 first-rate dealers from across North America. You’ll find Art Nouveau, Arts and Crafts, Prairie School, Art Deco, Art Moderne and Mid-Century, mon Dieu. And you’ll find scads of all of it — furniture, paintings, jewelry, metalwork, pottery, textiles and clothing. To name just a few. Of course you know that Modernism was the late 19th and early 20th century’s lean, clean response to the overstuffy Victorian Era. And if indulging in less-is-more makes you swoon, well then wander over to the Winnetka Community House, the not-for-profit recreational, educational and cultural arts organization at 620 Lincoln Ave., Winnetka, that happens to benefit from the show. The preview party is Nov. 6, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., and tickets cost $100 in advance ($125 at the door) but include a two-day pass. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 7 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 8. Tickets for the two-day admission, sans party, are $15 and include educational lectures.
