Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The inviting confines of the Morton Arboretum serve as a fitting backdrop to a performance by Chicago’s own Lovehammers. The quartet’s catchiest single does bear the name “Trees.” Svelte front man Marty Casey introduced the song to a national television audience when he participated in the CBS reality show “Rock Star: INXS” back in 2006. Casey scored second place in the contest, which pleased rabid fans of the band. Where is winner J.D. Fortune these days anyway? After a stint touring with L.A. Guns, Casey returned to the studio with the Lovehammers to record “Heavy Crown.” Released on July 21, “Heavy Crown” finds the childhood friends returning to the magic that made the group more than just a local favorite. Another homegrown band, Plain White T’s, headlines the outdoor evening where it will surely divvy up the set list between tracks from 2008’s “Big Bad World” and earlier underground material. Of course, the night just wouldn’t be complete without a rousing rendition of the band’s breakthrough hit, “Hey There Delilah.” 7 p.m. Saturday, Morton Arboretum, 4100 Illinois Rte. 53, Lisle. $30 day of, $28 for non-members, $23 for members; 630-968-0074 or mortonarb.org.
