Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Some things just scream summer. And maybe it’s because The Buckinghams’ name was taken from one of the city’s major summer traditions — the opening of Buckingham Fountain — but the local boys conjure up images of this short but sweet season. Take a step back in time to when Chicago’s WLS-AM played music at Wood Dale Prairie Fest, where The Buckinghams perform on Saturday night. The band’s hit single “Kind of a Drag” surely will bring back memories that are anything but. The group will be joined by the venerable The Ides of March. Enjoy a carnival midway, relax in the beer garden and stuff yourself silly with traditional festival fare. Anything sprinkled with powdered sugar is a must. 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, 3 to 11 p.m. Saturday, 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday. DuPage County’s Town Square, Wood Dale Road, and Commercial Street, Wood Dale. Free; 773-868-3010 or wooddale.com.
