A Barrington High School senior was charged over the weekend with raping two female students, one of them a minor, authorities said Monday.
The attacks occurred at a house in Barrington Hills, police and school officials said.
Bruce Johnston, 18, of the 800 block of Roberts Road in Tower Lakes was arrested Sunday and charged with two counts of sexual assault, authorities said. He was being held in McHenry County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.
Johnston is accused of assaulting the first student Friday evening, authorities said. On Saturday, he was reportedly found engaged in a sexual act with another student, a minor, when police officers went to the home where the first assault occurred, officials said.
Johnston has been suspended from school pending the outcome of the investigation, said district spokesman Jeffrey Arnett. No one could be reached at a telephone listed at Johnston’s address.
School District 220 and Barrington Hills police sent an e-mail Monday to parents and residents about what allegedly happened. Officials asked that other possible victims come forward.
“The hope is this would encourage students to talk with their parents or their teachers if they have knowledge or information related to the investigation,” Arnett said.
Counselors and school officials were available Monday to offer support, Arnett said.
