“CSI” on CBS has become a bit like NBC’s “Law & Order” franchise. What once was just one show now has numerous spinoffs that seem to populate the prime-time television schedule on a nightly basis. The original “CSI” takes place in Las Vegas, while its sibling shows call Miami and New York home. While these programs skew to adult sensibilities and contain quite graphic crime-scene content, the science involved in solving the mysteries each week is fascinating. The crew at Mad Science Productions, in its CSI: LIVE!, incorporates the engrossing whodunit story lines the show is known for and takes out the stuff reserved for mature audiences for a performance both educational and captivating.
