Kids love the circus. It’s hard not to feel a deep affection for an event made up of of lions, tigers and bears. Science, however, ranks lower on a child’s top-10 list than, say, art or gym class. The Super Scientific Circus folks not only strive to help students (and even adults) better understand scientific concepts, but also insert a sense of fun into the subject. While this version lacks elephants and a big top, Mr. Fish and Trent the Mime provide an experience like no other, employing boomerangs, bubbles and bull whips to explain friction, sonic booms, ultraviolet light and aerodynamics. 9:30 & 11:15 a.m. Wednesday & Thursday, James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts at the College of Lake County, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake. $10; 847-543-2300 or jlcenter.clcillinois.edu.
