Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

April contains both Arbor Day and Earth Day, and they just happen to take place within the same week. The Morton Arboretum is taking the entire month to commemorate these two nature-filled events by encouraging people to plant trees. Every weekend in April, environmentally conscious folks can head over to the Arboretum and come home with a tree seedling. Or, also with materials provided by the Arboretum, children can make a biodegradable container made of recycled newspaper that will house the seedling until it sprouts. Once it sprouts, you can transfer the entire thing into the ground at home with no mess or fuss. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Morton Arboretum, 4100 Illinois Highway 53, Lisle. Free; 630-968-0074 or mortonarb.org.
