“The Simpsons” is going postal.

The U.S. Postal Service has announced plans to honor the long-running cartoon sitcom with five stamps featuring America’s favorite four-fingered family members.

Homer, Marge, Maggie, Bart and Lisa will appear on the 44-cent stamps. (We like to speculate that they were going to issue a Mr. Burns stamp, but in focus-group testing, people kept spitting on the wrong side.)

The stamps will be available for preview April 9 at www.usps.com. That’s also when the Postal Service is slated to announce a sale date for the stamps, The Associated Press reports.

Show creator Matt Groening did the artwork for the sticky little numbers, but there’s no word yet as to what exactly they’ll be like.

Will the characters look as they did two decades ago? Will Homer be eating his trademark doughnut (with pink frosting and sprinkles)? Will Lisa have her “saxomaphone”?

Stay tuned.
