Summary: Upstart Fenwick threatened to play giant-killer again Friday, grabbing an early six-point lead and hanging in to the end. The Dolphins used a 12-2 run to start the second and took their first lead, 19-17, on junior forward Anthony Johnson’s put-back of a missed free throw with 2:22 remaining. Young guard Marcus Jordan buried a three with :04 remaining, stole the inbound pass and hit an 8-foot fade-away at the horn to give the Dolphins their 28-21 halftime lead. The Friars grabbed three third-quarter leads and used a 5-0 run early in the fourth to tie the game at 43-43 with 2:08 remaining. The Dolphins, who went 5:49 without scoring in the quarter, got an 8-foot runner from guard Chris Colvin with 1:52 remaining. Young then hit 7 of 8 free throws–including 5 of 6 from Jordan–to hold on.

The bonus: “I warned the boys about Catholic League teams,” said Jordan, a transfer from Loyola. “We knew this was going to be tough. We’ve always had that target on our chests. We just have to make sure we play the best game we can.”
