Summary: Von Steuben opened with a 10-0 run, but it didn’t take Maine South long to get back in it. The Hawks shut down the Panthers with their zone defense. Junior guard Jason Wasik’s 17-footer with 43 seconds left in the second quarter helped Maine South to a three point halftime edge. Wasik went on to score 12 of his game-high 18 points in the second half, including two free throws with :0.8 left in the third to give the Hawks a 36-28 lead. Von Steuben would get no closer than four points the rest of the way as Maine South connected on 8 of 10 free throws in the fourth quarter, 5 of 7 in the final 26 seconds.
