Summary: Michigan-bound senior Matt Vogrich poured in 26 of his game-high 38 points in the second half as Lake Forest rallied for the North Suburban Conference championship Wednesday night. With his team leading by a point at the end of three quarters, Vogrich scored nine points during a decisive 10-3 run for a commanding 60-49 lead at the 4:07 mark in the fourth quarter. Vogrich made 19 of 30 field goals (68 percent), including 5 of 8 from three-point territory, and added 12 rebounds. The Warhawks, on the other hand, made just 22 of their 68 shots on the night. After attempting no free throws in the first half, Lake Forest hit 17-23 in the second en route to its first title since the conference was split into two divisions in 2002.

The bonus: “In the second half, they switched smaller guys on me which allowed me to go to the basket. Kevin(berardini) did a great job of getting me the ball,” Vogrich said. “Nobody told us we could [win the title] this year. We were picked for third place; it feels great.”
