Halftime: Warren 29-12
Summary: Warren held the Hawks scoreless until the 2:34 mark of the first quarter, then went on a 15-2 run to open the second. Hoffman committed 10 turnovers and shot just 19 percent from the field in the first half as Warren rolled to the non-conference victory. Illinois-bound Brandon Paul injured an already tender right ankle midway through the third quarter and did not return. He finished with 10 points and five rebounds.
Top performers: Warren–Paul; James Poliquin 10 points, four rebounds. Hoffman Estates–Luke Mead 10 points.
The bonus: “Coach wanted us to come out defensively with a lot of intensity,” Paul said. “We knew they were a good outside-shooting team. … I rolled [my ankle] a while ago, and it got kicked when I tried to take a charge.”
