WHAT WE FELL IN LOVE WITH: The Bubble Lamp Shade
WHY WE’RE GLAD WE FOUND IT: George Nelson’s iconic Bubble Lamp design of 1947 is timeless, to be sure, but its looming, high-art personality isn’t a seamless match with all design types. Modernica has taken Nelson’s original design and universalized it into a table lamp shade.
The Bubble Lamp Shade retains all the ethereality of its predecessor — “It reminds me of a delicate cake,” says Jennifer Brandon, publicist for Modernica — but in a more familiar, accessible package.
COST: $225 (14 3/4-by-11 1/2-inch shade); $245 (17 3/4-by-12 3/4-inch shade); $265 (20 1/2-by-16-inch shade).
WHERE YOU CAN FIND IT: I.D. Chicago, 3337 N. Halsted St., 773-755-4343; modernica.net.
