The Utah Jazz received an early scare Saturday night when guard and former Illinois star Deron Williams was carried off the court with a sprained ankle in the first quarter of an exhibition game against the Bulls at the United Center.
Williams was attempting a jump shot when he landed on Bulls rookie Derrick Rose’s foot. He was carried off the court and taken to the dressing room in a wheelchair.
X-rays proved negative, and the injury was diagnosed as a left ankle inversion sprain. Williams did not return.
