Morgan Park 4-3, 3-1 Public Illini Prairie State; Hubbard 6-1, 3-1.
Summary:
With his leading running back and receiver sidelined for most of the second half, Morgan Park quarterback DaRon Brown carried his team to victory with four rushing touchdowns. After Morgan Park jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the second quarter, Hubbard running back Jerome Laseter scored the first of his three touchdowns with a 5-yard run to cut his team’s deficit to 12-7. But each time Hubbard came within a touchdown, the Mustangs rebounded, thanks to Brown. The junior’s 40-yard run late in the third quarter set up his 1-yard touchdown run to put Morgan Park up 26-13 with 11:17 left in the game. His 5-yard TD run with 2:03 remaining sealed the victory.
