Maybe we should start calling Jordan Lynch “Mr. Touchdown.”
On his first three carries Saturday at Soldier Field, the Mt. Carmel quarterback scored on runs of 26, 6 and 7 yards. He also threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to K.J. Picard in No. 1 Mt. Carmel’s 49-7 rout of Curie.
“We were just excited to be hitting someone else besides ourselves,” said Lynch, who played only the first quarter as Mt. Carmel jumped to a 42-0 lead by halftime. “Our offensive line was giving us a great push, and our backs were running hard. The defense stuffed them. Everybody came to play today.”
The Caravan’s starting defense held Curie to minus-12 yards in the first quarter and sat out the rest of the game. Anthony Battle and Byron Stanford recovered fumbles for Mt. Carmel.
