Christine Magnuson and Mary DeScenza made Monday’s final of the women’s 100-meter butterfly, qualifying first and fifth, respectively. Magnuson, a Tinley Park native who just finished her collegiate career at Tennessee, had the fastest semifinal time at 57.50 seconds. DeScenza, formerly of Naperville, went 58.86.

“It feels great, but I know [Monday] is going to be tough,” Magnuson said. “A lot of those girls, they can go 57 too.”

Said DeScenza: “It was a great semifinal swim.”
