Casey Short and Allie Vernon have been named to Parade magazine’s All-America girls high school soccer team.

Short, a three-time state track and field champion who has helped Naperville Central advance to Tuesday’s Class AA soccer sectional semifinals, is a national team player who will be attending Florida State.

Vernon, who attends Lockport but does not play high school soccer, is one of the outstanding juniors in the U.S. She has made an oral commitment to Santa Clara.

Named to Parade’s boys All-America team were Brendan King and David Meves. King, a senior from Naperville who will attend Notre Dame, graduated from the Edison Academic Center in Bradenton, Fla., last December and is currently enrolled at Notre Dame. Meves, of Arlington Heights, was home-schooled and has committed to play at the University of Akron. Both play on the national level for their age-group teams.
